PAGASA Issues Update amid Typhoon Uwan Still Within PAR
TYPHOON UWAN UPDATE – Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that 30 areas in Luzon and Visayas remain under life-threatening storm surges.
Uwan has brought massive rains that triggered deep flooding in several areas in Luzon as it continues to cross the country. Currently, the nation is under a national state of calamity.

President Bongbong Marcos declared a national state of calamity following the wrath of Typhoon “Tino” and then-upcoming storm “Uwan” which was expected to intensify as a super typhoon. The latter did and battered several areas in the country as super typhoon Uwan that placed some areas under signal no. 5.
Marcos Jr. previously assured that all Philippine government agencies are under a “full alert” status due to Typhoon Uwan. The national state of calamity declaration was a proposal of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council or NDRRMC.

Currently, several areas in Luzon have no power supply. Recently, PAGASA released an update about Typhoon Uwan which continues to threaten several areas across the nation. Based on a report on GMA News, the state bureau warned that 30 areas in Luzon and Visayas remain at risk for life-threatening storm surge.

According to PAGASA, estimated storm surge heights of more than three (3) meters are expected in the coastal areas in the following places:
- Aurora
- Bataan
- Batanes
- Cagayan
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- Isabela
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Quezon
- Zambales
With regards to the following areas, the state bureau warned that storm surge with heights of 2.1 to 3 meters may occur:
- Aklan
- Antique
- Batangas
- Bulacan
- Cavite
- Guimaras
- Marinduque
- Masbate
- Metro Manila
- Negros Occidental
- Negros Oriental
- Occidental Mindoro
- Oriental Mindoro
- Palawan
- Pampanga
- Romblon
Based on the report, estimated storm surge heights of 1 to 2 meters may occur in the coastal areas of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes. As per the latest tropical cyclone issued by PAGASA, Uwan has downgraded from being a super typhoon into a typhoon but signal no. 4 is still up in the following areas:
- the southwestern portion of Isabela (Cordon, City of Santiago, Echague, Jones, San Agustin, San Guillermo, San Isidro, Alicia, Angadanan, Ramon, San Mateo, City of Cauayan, Benito Soliven, Naguilian, Reina Mercedes, Luna, Cabatuan, Aurora, San Manuel, Roxas, Mallig, Quirino, Burgos, Gamu, Quezon)
- Quirino
- Nueva Vizcaya
- the southern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Tanudan, Tinglayan, Pasil, Lubuagan)
- Mountain Province
- the southern portion of Abra (Tubo, Luba, Boliney, Villaviciosa, Pilar, Daguioman, Bucloc, Manabo, San Isidro, San Quintin, Pidigan)
- Ifugao
- Benguet
- the central and southern portions of Ilocos Sur (Narvacan, Nagbukel, Santa Maria, Burgos, San Esteban, Santiago, Banayoyo, Lidlidda, San Emilio, Quirino, Cervantes, Gregorio del Pilar, Sigay, Suyo, Alilem, Salcedo, Galimuyod, City of Candon, Santa Lucia, Santa Cruz, Tagudin, Sugpon)
