Typhoon Uwan — Marcos Jr. Assures All PH Gov’t Agencies under “Full Alert”

Pres. Marcos Jr. Speaks on Gov’t Preparations for Typhoon Uwan as it Intensifies

TYPHOON UWAN – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured that all government agencies in the Philippines are under “full alert”.

The Philippines is currently under a national state of calamity as declared by Pres. Bongbong Marcos due to typhoons “Tino” and “Uwan”. The President approved the proposal of the National Disaster Risk Reduction Council or NDRRMC. Currently, several areas in Luzon are advised to prepare for ‘Uwan’ which is believed to have a wide coverage.

According to DOST-PAGASA, Typhoon Uwan has rapidly intensified in the last 24 hours. The government agencies are currently monitoring the typhoon which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday night.

Recently, Marcos Jr. spoke on the preparations of the government for Typhoon Uwan or internationally named as “Fung-Wong”. It is expected to develop into a super typhoon and may affect more than 8 million Filipinos.

Amid the government agencies monitoring Typhoon Uwan, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marcos Jr. stressed that the government agencies are all under a “full alert”. He cited that the measures taken by the government agencies included the early deployment of buses and trucks by the Department of Transportation.

“Naka-full alert and lahat ng ahensiya ng pamahalaan at agad kumilos upang matiyak ang kaligtasan ng ating mga kababayan,” the President said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos also said that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) also moved for the evacuation efforts. Based on the report, he also cited that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) have also prepared the following:

  • rescue vehicles
  • lifeboats
  • relief goods

“Sa ilalim ng DILG, nagpapatuloy ang mga pre-emptive evacution upang mailikas ang mga resident sa mga high-risk areas bago pa man tumama ang bagyo bukas,” he said.

  • Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Camarines Norte, the rest of Camarines Sur, the rest of Masbate including Burias Island, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands, Calamian Islands, and Cuyo Islands

Visayas

  • the rest of Samar, the rest of Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, the northeastern portion of Bohol (Getafe, Talibon, Buenavista, Trinidad, San Miguel, Ubay, Alicia, Mabini, Bien Unido, Pres. Today, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also released a video message wherein she told the Filipinos to prepare for Typhoon Uwan.
