Quezon City Man Shoots Nephew Believing He Cursed His Grandchild
A man in Quezon City was arrested after shooting his nephew believing he allegedly cast a curse on his beloved grandchild.
On Sunday afternoon, November 2, 2025, a 44-year-old man was arrested after shooting his 32-year-old nephew dead. The suspect claimed he committed the crime because he believed his nephew had cast a curse on his grandchild.
According to police reports, the shooting happened along Mindanao Avenue in Barangay Talipapa around 5 p.m. The victim was riding a motorcycle when his uncle, who was also on a motorcycle, suddenly opened fire. The victim died on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing three gunshots before seeing the suspect flee the scene on his motorcycle. CCTV footage later showed the man removing his helmet, allowing authorities to confirm his identity.
“Alam namin papasok sa trabaho at dun nga po naka-receive tayo ng call sa 122 yung station 3 at nirespondehan naman agad natin at yun nga, during the investigation nagtanong-tanong dun sa tapat, may narinig po silang tatlong putok ng baril,” QCPD Acting District Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio said.
Police arrested the suspect later that night at his home in Barangay Culiat. Recovered from his possession were a .38-caliber revolver loaded with bullets and the motorcycle used in the crime.
During the investigation, the suspect told police that he believed his nephew had placed a curse—or “kulam”—on his grandchild, which led to the child’s illness. Driven by anger and fear, he decided to take revenge.
He also claimed that his nephew had previously threatened his family, which made him act first.
Authorities have since detained the suspect at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit in Camp Karingal. He now faces charges of murder, illegal possession of firearms, and violation of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act.
Police continue to remind the public to settle conflicts peacefully and seek help through legal means instead of resorting to revenge.
