After Years of Silence, Robin Padilla Opens Up About His Heartfelt Bond with BB Gandanghari
ROBIN PADILLA – Senator Robin Padilla has opened up about his long journey toward fully accepting and reconnecting with his sibling, BB Gandanghari, whose courage to live authentically inspired him to embrace change with love.
Robin Padilla has wholeheartedly accepted his elder sibling, BB Gandanghari’s identity as a transwoman. The actor and lawmaker revealed that it took him quite some time to fully embrace his sibling’s transformation from Rustom Padilla into BB Gandanghari.
During his guest appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Robin became emotional as he reflected on how much their relationship had evolved after years of estrangement. Although they went through a difficult period, he expressed happiness that their bond is now healed and stronger than before.
“Na-miss ko siya, eh. Noong nag-out siya (as transwoman) hindi na kami nag-usap,” Robin admitted, his voice filled with emotion as he recalled the time they stopped communicating.
He added, “Kaya noong dumating ‘yung time na naging close kami ulit, ‘yun pala ‘yung isang nami-miss ko sa buhay ko, ‘yung relationship ko sa kanya.”
Robin also mentioned that he now regards BB as his younger sister, even if she is older than him, explaining that her full transition into womanhood completely changed how he sees her.
In a separate interview, BB shared that Robin’s acceptance has been both sincere and touching. “Kapag nasa pila kami, ladies first. Nagpunta kami sa mosque sa Taiwan, naka-hijab ako, pumasok ako doon bilang babae and ano, nire-recognize niya lahat ‘yon,” BB recounted, showing appreciation for her brother’s respect and understanding.
BB Gandanghari first came out as gay during her time on “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition” in 2006, and later publicly identified as a transgender woman. Since then, she has courageously lived her truth, inspiring many through her authenticity and strength.
In July 2025, BB achieved another major accomplishment when she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business from the Los Angeles Film School—a testament to her perseverance and passion.
After years of emotional distance, Robin and BB’s reconciliation has become a moving example of unconditional love, forgiveness, and family acceptance.
