On Monday evening (October 27, 2025), a tragic accident took the lives of a soldier, his pregnant wife, and their 13-year-old child after their motorcycle collided with a dump truck along the national highway in Barangay Magnaga, Pantukan, Davao de Oro.
Authorities identified the victims as Corporal Jennifer Pacquiao, his wife Lessil, and their young child. The family was traveling on a motorcycle heading toward Mati City, Davao Oriental, when the tragic incident happened. The truck driver is facing charges for reckless imprudence.
Based on the initial investigation, the dump truck was traveling in the opposite direction when it suddenly overtook another vehicle. It caused a crash head-on into the family’s motorcycle. The strong impact threw the victims several meters away, leaving them with severe injuries.
Rescue teams immediately responded to the scene and rushed the victims to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, all three victims were declared dead on arrival due to the seriousness of their injuries.
Authorities have taken the dump truck driver into custody. He is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide.
Residents in the area described it as one of the most painful accidents to happen in their town. Many expressed sorrows, especially after learning that one of the victims was a soldier and that his wife was expecting a child.
