Lawyer Wearing Simple House Clothes Mistaken for Beggar at Fast-Food Restaurant
A lawyer was mistaken for a beggar because he was dressed in simple house clothes while dining at a popular fast-food restaurant.
Recent, Atty. Mark John Ortiz, a Facebook user, shared his experience at the fast-food chain after a female customer thought he was homeless. The post quickly went viral and drew various reactions online.
He recalled that he was simply dressed in comfortable house clothes and carrying a white plastic bag when he went to Jollibee along N. Domingo Street to have a meal.

After eating, he held the door open for a woman who was about to enter the restaurant. As he started walking down the stairs, the woman suddenly called him back and handed him a few coins, thinking he was a beggar asking for spare change.
Surprised but amused, Ortiz accepted the money and thanked her politely instead of correcting the misunderstanding. He later shared that the woman probably thought he was one of those people who open doors for small tips outside convenience stores.
He even laughed at himself, joking about how his rolled-up pants and the plastic bag from a local bakery made him look like a homeless man. His companion also couldn’t help but laugh as they walked away, with Ortiz carrying the P7 he received from the kind stranger.
Instead of feeling insulted, the lawyer took the incident in stride, saying he saw no reason to be offended.
