Vice Ganda reveals why there’s no “Magpasikat” this year.
According to the main host, Vice Ganda, this is the reason why It’s Showtime is skipping “Magpasikat” this year.
“Magpasikat” has become a signature anniversary-week event for It’s Showtime. This has become a yearly tradition of the show where the hosts are made to perform and compete with each other for a good cause.
In Magpasikat 2024, the team composed of Kim Chiu, Ogie Alcasid, MC, and Lassy won the competition. They dubbed themselves the “Fourtastic Combo,” and their PHP 300,000 cash prize was given to the Angat Buhay Foundation.
However, this year, the noontime show is skipping the annual tradition, and in a real talk, the main host, Vice Ganda, revealed that they couldn’t afford it anymore. This year, they decided to twist some things about their anniversary celebration and do it differently, in a more meaningful way.
The Kapamilya comedian-host explained that realistically speaking, each “Magpasikat” performance costs millions to produce. They really don’t hold back on the production numbers because they want to leave the viewers entertained and inspired.
“I’m sure alam niyo naman ‘yun kung gaano naging kahirap sa ating lahat na itaguyod itong programa ‘to sa mga nakalipas na taon. We have been trying our very best pero naisip namin every year, per day, per prod, minimum of ₱6 million. Minsan umaabot ng ₱10 million, so kung susumahin mo ‘yan sa isang linggo, para sa isang linggo lang na selebrayon, magkano ‘yung ginagastos namin,” Vice pointed out.
The host went on saying that it used to be fun because they could afford it, but this year, “unfortunately and realistically,” they can’t, and she knows that the public already understands it and knows why.
As for their 16th anniversary, vice promised that it will be more meaningful, as they are still preparing for a grand celebration. It will be in December, and this grand celebration will be a combination of entertainment and public service.
