Amid the Flood Control Mess, Ombudsman Remulla Wants Sen. Joel Villanueva Dismissal Order To Be Implemented
Ombudsman Boying Remulla confirmed that he will ask Senate President Tito Sotto to enforce the 2016 dismissal order against Senator Joel Villanueva.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had a change of leadership amid the flood control mess in the Philippines. Some senators and congressmen were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption that urged thousands of Filipinos to protest in the streets.

Sen. Joel Villanueva is one of the senators tagged in the alleged flood control anomalies. It was dismissed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan district Engr. Brice Hernandez who tagged the Senator.
Villanueva denied the accusations against him. He and another senator who was also tagged by Hernandez, then Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, claimed that they are willing to open their bank accounts amid the accusation. Then, Villanueva was the majority leader in the Senate.

Amid the flood control mess in the Philippines, the Senate had a shakeup. Sen. Joel Villanueva was replaced with Sen. Migz Zubiri as the majority floor leader in the chamber. He is now part of the minority bloc in the Senate.

However, amid the denial of Sen. Joel Villanueva, a video of him with former DPWH chief engr. Henry Alcantara crossed the surface. The Senator earned countless criticisms against the issue and even the past allegations against him resurfaced.
Sen. Joel Villanueva was previously accused of alleged misuse of the Priority Development Assistance Fund or PDAF when he was the representative of the CIBAC party-list. Based on a post of ABS-CBN News on social media, Ombudsman Boying Remulla recently spoke about the said issue against the Senator.
According to Ombudsman Remulla, he will write a letter to Senate Pres. Tito Sotto to try to ask him to enforce the 2016 dismissal order against Sen. Joel Villanueva. It was over the alleged misuse of the PDAF scam when he was still a House member.

Based on the post, Ombudsman Boying Remulla said he will write a letter today to ask Senate Pres. Tito Sotto to enforce the 2016 dismissal order against Sen. Joel Villanueva and personally deliver it to Sotto on Friday. The dismissal order was issued by former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales in 2016.
Previously, amid the issue, Sen. Joel Villanueva was defended by his father, JIL Leader Eddie Villanueva.
