DSWD on Alert for Possible Impact of Tropical Storm Ramil

DSWD Places Field Offices Under Alert for Possible Impact of Tropical Storm Ramil

DSWD has placed all its field offices on high alert as the country braces for the possible effects of Tropical Storm Ramil.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that the Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have already been activated to ensure immediate action and assistance once the storm affects communities.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian assured the public that the agency has enough relief supplies ready for distribution. These supplies, including family food packs and other essential items, have been prepositioned in key locations across the country so they can be delivered quickly to affected areas.

Gatchalian has also directed all DSWD field offices to coordinate closely with local government units (LGUs). The partnership aims to ensure that local leaders, especially mayors, are aware of the available resources and that emergency items can be mobilized immediately when needed.

According to DSWD spokesperson and Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the department is fully prepared to deploy food and non-food items as soon as the situation requires. She added that all regional warehouses are well-stocked with family food packs that can sustain affected families during emergencies.

These preparations are part of DSWD’s disaster response strategy to minimize delays in delivering aid. The agency has been working closely with local governments to identify vulnerable areas, assess evacuation centers, and make sure relief operations will run smoothly.
