Former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton has passed away at the age of 46. He was found lifeless in his Manchester home. The late world boxing champ was known as one of the foes of world boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
In a previous article, Pacquiao expressed sadness over Hatton’s death and remembered him as someone who had fought bravely, both inside the ring and in his life.
“We shared unforgettable moments in boxing history and I will always honor the respect and sportsmanship he showed. Ricky fought bravely, not just in the ring, but in his journey through life,” he wrote
Recently, the authorities confirmed the cause of his death, and based on the official report, he died by hanging. Coroner Alison Mutch said at an inquest, “The provisional cause of death is given as hanging.”
A couple of days before he was found dead, he was seen by family members and appeared “well.”
In boxing, he was known as “The Hitman” and fought 48 fights during his 15 years as a professional boxer from 1997 and 2012. He won 45 fights. One of his losses was with Pacquiao, which prompted him to take a break for three years after the defeat. He returned to the ring briefly in 2012 before announcing his retirement.
He was supposedly competing against Eisa Al Dah on December 2 in Dubai.
