Sara Duterte Not Calling for Marcos Jr.’s Resignation: “I am asking him to do his job”

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Speaks on Calls for Pres. Marcos To Resign

SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President explained why she is not calling for the resignation of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.

Amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippines, there are calls for Pres. Bongbong Marcos to step down from the presidency. Cavite 4th District Congressman Kiko Barzaga even recently led an anti-Marcos protest that called for the President’s resignation. He also previously showed an alleged impeachment complaint against Marcos Jr.

Aside from Barzaga, Harry Roque also called for the resignation of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. According to him, the Filipino people might be able to forgive Marcos Jr. if he will step down from the presidency voluntarily.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s former Spokesman is in The Hague, Netherlands now amid an arrest warrant issued by a Philippine court. According to him, he will only return to the country on the first day after the term of Marcos Jr. ends.

Harry Roque also called for “People Power” which he tagged as the alleged solution to the corruption issues in the Philippine government. However, while some Filipinos are calling for the resignation of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she is not part the call.

Based on a post of News5 on social media, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte believes that calling for Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ resignation is allegedly a “pointless call” as he will supposedly not do it. According to her, what she calls for instead is for the President to do his job.

“‘Marcos Resign’ is a pointless call that is why ako, I am asking him to do his job, of which, of course… hindi niya ginagawa,” the Vice President said.

Based on the post, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also pointed out that the father of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the late former Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Sr., stayed in the presidency for a long time. He remains the longest-serving president of the country from 1965 to 1986.

“(I) never asked him to resign… Hindi magre-resign ‘yan. Nakita niyo ba ‘yung tatay (dating pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.)? Ilang taon ‘yun (naging pangulo)?” she said.

Aside from speaking on the calls for Marcos Jr. to resign, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also spoke on her alleged ties with Cavite Cong. Kiko Barzaga.
