Following his Appointment, Incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla Speaks on What Public Can Expect
Incoming Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla sees prosecution those people who deserve it citing his “record” as justice secretary.
The appointment of Department of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla as the next Ombudsman by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. earned different comments from the Filipino people. Several senators and members of the House of Representatives also reacted to it. It was the President who has the prerogative to choose who will be the next Ombudsman.

Remulla was one of the seven (7) applicants for Ombudsman who made it to the shortlist submitted by the Judiciary and Bar Council or JBC to Marcos Jr. The transfer of the appointment of the Justice Secretary is taking place amid the supposed multi-billion flood control scam in the country.
Incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla vowed for swift actions on the process regarding the flood control issue in the Philippines now. He stressed that the issue is no longer a secret to the Filipino people and there will be fact-finding and the evaluation of each case that the DOJ and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will push.

Undeniably, there are criticisms on the appointment of Justice Sec. Boying Remulla as the next Ombudsman. There are claims and speculations that his appointment may be allegedly something that sparks vigilance. Presidential sister and Senator Imee Marcos previously claimed that his position may be used against the Dutertes.

Recently, incoming Ombudsman admitted that he sees prosecution for those who deserve it. The outgoing Justice Secretary stressed that his record as the chief of the DOJ will speak for itself.
“My record will speak for itself. Wala akong sinisino talaga. I think that no SOJ (Secretary of Justice) has sent more powerful people to jail than or to where they should be, than us, during our court of duty,” Remulla said.
To recall, Remulla is part of the Marcos Jr. administration when former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). He is one of the government officials that Sen. Imee Marcos previously asked the Ombudsman to be investigated on over Duterte’s arrest.

According to incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla, he is not promising but he really sees prosecution for those who are deserving of it.
“Hindi ako nangangako pero ang tingin ko, doon tayo papunta talaga: na ‘yung mga dapat usigin, usigin natin,” the incoming Ombudsman said.
Based on a report on Inquirer, several senators reacted to Remulla’s appointment as the next Ombudsman. Senate Pres. Tito Sotto believes on his extensive experience in the field of investigation. Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano approved the appointment of Remulla but called on the public to keep an eye on what he will do.
Following his appointment, incoming Ombudsman Boying Remulla confirmed that he will have the complaints filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte opened and studied on.
