Mauban, Quezon Submerged in Floodwaters Due to Heavy Rains

Mauban, Quezon Flooded Again After Heavy Early Wednesday Morning Rain

The town of Mauban in Quezon Province was once again submerged in floodwaters after heavy rains poured early Wednesday morning, October 8, 2025.

Residents woke up to rising water levels in several areas as continuous rainfall lasted from the early hours until around six in the morning.

Among the hardest-hit areas were Sitio D. Lim, Barangay Sadsaran, Barangay San Miguel, Barangay Baao, Barangay Puntor, and other nearby communities within the town proper. Floodwaters quickly filled the streets, affecting homes, small businesses, and vehicles parked along the roads.

Because of the flooding, the local government decided to suspend classes in both public and private schools at all levels to ensure the safety of students and teachers. Local authorities also reminded residents living in low-lying areas to remain alert and evacuate if needed.

This is not the first time Mauban experienced heavy flooding. Just last month, large portions of the town were also affected by severe water buildup. Residents and officials have linked the recurring floods to the ongoing construction of a bypass road located in the upper part of the town.

Reports say that landslides also took place along the construction site, causing mud and lahar-like debris to flow down into residential areas, which serve as a natural catch basin for rainwater.
