Marcos Jr. Picks Justice Sec. Boying Remulla as Ombudsman
BOYING REMULLA – The Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary is appointed by President Bongbong Marcos as the new Ombudsman from the 7 applicants in the shortlist.
Recently, the Judiciary and Bar Council or JBC submitted the shortlist composed of 7 applicants for the position of Ombudsman. There were originally 17 individuals who applied to be the chief graft buster in the country.

The shortlist was submitted to Pres. Bongbong Marcos who will be the one to choose the next Ombudsman. DOJ Sec. Boying Remulla was one of those who applied for the position and he is included in the 7 applicants who made it to the shortlist submitted to the President:
- Philippine Competition Commission chairperson Michael Aguinaldo
- Former Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Stephen Cruz
- SC Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan
- Office of the President Deputy Executive Sec. for Legal Affairs Anna Logan
- Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla
- Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario Lopez
- Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Michael Frederick Musngi

The inclusion of DOJ Chief Boying Remulla in the shortlist for Ombudsman applicants submitted to Marcos Jr. earned different reactions from the Filipino people. A voting was done for the shortlist and he got five (5) votes.

- Former Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Stephen Cruz – 4 votes
- SC Associate Justice Samuel Gaerlan – 5 votes
- Office of the President Deputy Executive Sec. for Legal Affairs Anna Logan – 5 votes
- Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla – 5 votes
- Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario Lopez – 4 votes
- Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Michael Frederick Musngi – 4 votes
Previously, Remulla claimed that he thinks he has a lot to offer if he will be chosen as the next Ombudsman. He is also confident that the justice department will be in good hands if he will be appointed to a new position.

Recently, Malacañang revealed the decision of Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, DOJ chief Boying Remulla is appointed by Marcos Jr. as the new Ombudsman. He will replace former Ombudsman Samuel Martires who retired in July.
“As Ombudsman, Remulla is expected to uphold transparency, strengthen anti-corruption measures, and ensure that justice is administered fairly and efficiently. There will be no sacred cows, no exemptions, and no excuses. Public office is a public trust, and those who betray it will be held accountable,” the Palace said.
