Pres. Bongbong Marcos Speaks on Supposed Corruption in PH Gov’t amid Flood Control Mess
BONGBONG MARCOS – The President admitted that he was shocked by the scale of alleged corruption in the Philippine government.
Countless Filipinos including Pres. Marcos were disappointed by the extent of the supposed corruption in the flood control projects funded by the government. The amounts in the different testimonies were not millions but billions.

To recall, Pres. Bongbong Marcos slammed the failure of the different flood control projects funded by the government during his 4th State of the Nation Address. A few weeks after it, Marcos Jr. revealed that the Philippines already spent over P500-billion for the flood control projects.
The said spending of the PH government for the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025 took place but many areas in the country remain flood-prone. Some officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are linked to the flood control corruption.

During the Senate and House of Representatives flood probe, several congressmen and senators were also accused of allegedly receiving kickback from the flood control projects. One of them is resigned Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co.

A former marine who claimed to be a former staff of Co said during a Senate flood probe that he was allegedly part of the team that delivered suitcases full of money to Co and presidential cousin and Leyte Congressman Martin Romualdez who resigned from being the House Speaker amid the issue.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that he was shocked by the extent of corruption in the Philippine government. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive admitted that he had suspicion about th corruption in the government but he did not expect the extent.
“There’s always been a sniff and suspicion of corruption in government but not this scale. That was a shocking part and I said that this cannot [go on],” he said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that nothing will happen to the Philippines if the same supposed multi-billion corruption in the government continues. Based on the post, he stressed that such extent of corruption will affect the growth of the economy.
“Nothing will happen to the Philippines if this goes on. Wala na talagang mangyayari sa atin. The economy will not grow properly, people will not get help, schools will not get better, the hospitals will not get better. We will not go anywhere,” the President expressed.
Amid the flood control mess in the Philippines, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano floated the idea of a snap election in the Philippines amid a supposed decline of public trust on the government.
