Vice Ganda Says Sorry To MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto Amid Live; Here’s Why

This is why Vice Ganda apologized to Lala Sotto during a live show.

It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda says sorry to MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto after this contestant in their segment said this word in the noontime show.

Doing a live noontime show for television has its thrills, and at the same time, dangers. There are high possibilities of technical errors, such as equipment failures and timing errors, safety risks, and others. But what often happens is human error. There will be times when hosts or guests might say something offensive, incorrect, or unverified, unscripted reactions, and stage accidents.

Vice Ganda

Recently, during the live airing of It’s Showtime, the main host, ABS-CBN superstar Vice Ganda, where shocked and did not expect to hear a vulgar word from a teacher.

In their “Laro Laro Pick” segment in its final leg, the teacher became a bit too comfortable while sharing with them her experiences with flooding and being a teacher. The educator shared that, as someone who lives in an area that floods easily, she always needed to go to school wearing “pekpek shorts.”

The term quickly alarmed them, and worry was written all over the faces of the host and her co-hosts, Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario. Vice was caught off guard, surprised, and shocked all at the same time. The term “pekpek” is an inappropriate word to say on TV, and she also did not expect to hear it from a teacher.

This incident has prompted her to immediately call out Lala Sotto, the chair of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), and her agency.

“Ms. Lala, sorry po. Sorry po sa MTRCB. Sa lahat po ng mga kumakain, sa lahat po ng mga nanonood, sorry po nabigla lang. Masyado lang po kaming kortable sa isa’t isa. Very sorry,” Vice said.

The teacher, upon realizing her fault, also apologized. Vice added, “Hindi ko ini-expect sa teacher yun.”
