Minor Motorcycle Rider Dies After Crashing Into Truck in Davao City
A minor motorcycle rider lost his life after he accidentally crashed into a truck in Davao City and also left a pedestrian injured.
On Thursday morning, October 2, 2025, a 17-year-old student dies after his motorcycle collided with a truck along Purok 20, Upper Piedad, Bato, Toril.
According to the initial police investigation, both the motorcycle and the truck were traveling along Bato Road when the teenager attempted to overtake near the area of Purok 20. In the process, his motorcycle struck a woman who was crossing the road.

The impact caused the rider to lose control, leading him to crash into the back of the truck.
Authorities identified the pedestrian as a 50-year-old woman known as Jen, who is from Mamac Compound. She sustained injuries and was rushed for medical treatment. The truck driver, a 43-year-old man referred to as Tony from Sirawan, Toril, was taken into police custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police confirmed that the motorcycle rider was only 17 years old and a student. They also noted that he did not carry a driver’s license or the motorcycle’s official documents at the time of the accident.

The incident has earned discussions about the dangers of underage driving and the importance of road safety. Many residents expressed concern, emphasizing that young riders are often more vulnerable to accidents due to their lack of experience and proper authorization to operate vehicles.
For the grieving family, the sudden loss is heartbreaking, while the injured pedestrian also faces recovery from the unfortunate incident.
