Here’s the latest data about the Cebu earthquake with deadly intensity.
CEBU EARTHQUAKE – Aftershocks continued to occur following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake on September 30, with 72 deaths recorded.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has previously recorded a 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Bogo City, Cebu. This was later changed and upgraded to 6.9, and with this huge and deadly intensity, the number of deaths has risen to 72.

On Wednesday, army troops, police, and civilian volunteers—assisted by backhoes and sniffer dogs—were deployed to carry out house-to-house searches for survivors. Until today, the rescue operations continue.
Based on the latest data, as of October 2, 2025 at 3 PM, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Thursday that 73 people have already died, and aftershocks have topped 3,000.
The fatalities were recorded in the following areas:

- 22 – San Remigio
- 11 – Medellin
- 5 – Tabogon
- 1 – Sogod
- 1 – Tabuelan
There were 297 people who got injured.
Phivolcs, on the other hand, recorded at least 3,036 aftershocks, and 15 of them were felt. The magnitude of the aftershocks ranged from 1.0 to 5.0, and this could continue for several more days.
Cebu quake toll as of Thursday morning:
- Families affected – 47,221
- Individuals affected – 170,959

Bogo is a city of 90,000 people in Cebu, and near this in the island’s north was where the shallow magnitude 6.9 quake struck late on Tuesday. Cebu provincial governor Pamela Baricuatro appealed for help, stating that thousands were in urgent need of safe drinking water, food, clothing, temporary shelter, and volunteers to help organize and distribute relief supplies.
“Many homes were destroyed and many families are in need of help to recover… They need our help, prayers and support,” she said on Facebook.
