Sen. Jinggoy Estrada Chides “Senator” over Remarks on Budget Insertions
JINGGOY ESTRADA – The Senator suggested giving the budget insertions of the Senate lawmakers to the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte ‘s office is asking for a P902.895 million budget for 2026. Previously, the Vice President claimed that she expects budget cuts from the proposed budget of the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
Previously, the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the fate of their proposed budget for 2026. According to the OVP, it would be the same thing for them whether their proposed fund for next year will be increased or decreased.
However, it seemed like the OVP also had a different stance after a while. The office of Vice Pres. Duterte admitted that a bigger budget can pave the way for the accomplishment of more programs.
During the House of Representatives’ budget hearing on the proposed fund of the OVP, only Vice Pres. Sara Duterte attended the inquiry. She offered to attend the House inquiry instead of her chief-of-staff, Atty. Zuleika Lopez, who was previously detained at the lower chamber.
Today, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte attended the Senate hearing on the proposed fund of the OVP for next year. The Senate panel approved the P902.89 million budget request of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office for 2026.
At the Senate hearing, Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri introduced a motion to extend parliamentary courtesy to the OVP which was supported by his fellow senators. It was a swift and smooth passing of Duterte’s proposed fund for next year.
Sen. Jinggoy Estrada gave a suggestion during the Senate hearing on the OVP’s proposed budget for 2026. Based on a post of News5, the Senator floated the idea of giving the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte the budget insertions of the senators.
The statement of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada is seemingly a chide on a ‘senator’ who spoke about the budget insertions of the Senate lawmakers. Although Estrada did not mention a name, Sen. Ping Lacson has recent revealed that almost all senators in the 19th Congress has a budget insertion of P100-billion.
