Sen. Bong Go Speaks on Services of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Office
BONG GO – The Senator wanted to support Vice President Sara Duterte to be a “working vice president” by giving some of his office’s budget to the OVP.
The Office of the Vice President is asking for a P902.895 million budget for 2026. Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that she opted not to ask for a bigger fund for next year as she does not expect for it to be approved.
Vice Pres. Duterte stressed that she is not ally of the Marcos Jr. administration. Recently, she also claimed that the President and the House Speaker are still the same people. This year, the Vice President attended both the House of Representatives and the Senate OVP budget hearing.
At the Senate OVP budget hearing today, the proposed budget of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office for 2026 was swiftly approved by the panel. Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri made a motion to extend parliamentary courtesy to the OVP.
The senators supported the motion of Zubiri which was followed by Sen. Bato dela Rosa, a known Duterte ally in the Senate, seconding the motion. After there was no objection, Senate finance committee chairman Sherwin Gatchalian approved the motion.
At the Senate hearing of the proposed budget of the OVP today, Sen. Bong Go, another known Duterte-ally in the Senate, proposed for the transfer of some of the budget of his office to the office of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. Based on a post of News5, he called for support on the Vice President to be a “working vice president”.
“Kung allowed po ito, bawasan po ang budget ko sa opisina sa Senado kahit konti. Ilagay lang po sa OVP,” the Senator said.
According to Sen. Bong Go, he allegedly saw that there are many people who request for the services extended by the Office of the Vice President. Based on the post, he called for support to empower Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office to help more people.
“Nakikita ko po ‘yan mahaba po ang pila sa kanyang mag satellite office. We must further empower and help VP’s office to respond to the needs of the Filipino people especially the marginalized sector,” the Senator said.
Amid the flood control mess in the Philippines, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte asserted that no one listened to her claims over the national budget.
