Bongbong Marcos on Flood Control Mess: “Tiyakin na sapat ang ebidensiya upang hindi makawala ang mga tunay na taksil”

Malacañang Speaks on Order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over Flood Control Issue in PH

BONGBONG MARCOS – Malacañang said the President wants the agencies to ensure the evidence in the flood control mess in the Philippines.

The flood control issue triggered the disappointment of countless Filipinos over the extent of corruption in the country. Some officials of the government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are linked into the mess. Amid the issue, Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI.

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure is an independent probe team for the infrastructure projects of the government armed with broad powers. The ICI has the power to move for the freezing or seizure of the assets linked to anomalies as well as the issuance of a subpoena.

Amid the allegations against his cousin, Pres. Bongbong Marcos assured that Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez and his allies will not be spared from the flood control probe. Aside from the ICI, the Senate continued with its investigation on the anomalous flood control deals funded by the government.

Aside from Romualdez, controversial contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya also accused Quezon City Cong. Arjo Atayde, Pasig Cong. Roman Romulo, and Marikina Cong. Marcy Teodoro of allegedly receiving kickbacks from the flood control projects. They also pinned down Ako Bicol Partylist Representative Zaldy Co.

Several resource persons of the Senate also made allegations against Co. However, the Representative was already in the United States when the accusations against him broke it and has yet to heed the order of the House of Representatives to return to the country immediately and face the accusations.

Aside from senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva as well as former Sen. Bong Revilla, based on a report on GMA News, a former DPWH Undersecretary also accused former Sen. Nancy Binay of allegedly receiving flood control kickbacks. Former Senate Pres. Chiz Escudero is also accused of allegedly receiving around P160 million kickback from the flood control projects.

”Ngunit may tagubilin ang Pangulo – tiyakin na sapat ang ebidensiya upang hindi makawala ang mga tunay na taksil sa interes ng taumbayan,” the Malacañang press official said.

Amid the allegations that not only millions but billions were allegedly delivered to him, Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co claimed that the flood control accusations against him are allegedly “false and baseless”.
