‘Durog na durog na ako’: Gerald Anderson’s Emotional Confession on Breakup Backlash
GERALD ANDERSON – Actor Gerald Anderson confessed that he takes responsibility for the breakup but pleaded for the harsh online attacks against him to stop.
Gerald Anderson recently reached out to talent manager and entertainment columnist Ogie Diaz to clear the air about issues surrounding his breakup with Julia Barretto. The actor directly addressed speculations involving volleyball player Vanie Gandler, who has been unfairly linked to the controversy.
According to Diaz, “Tumawag si Gerald para linawin ang isyu sa breakup nila ni Julia Barretto. Una na diyan ang kanyang paglilinaw na hindi si Vanie Gandler ang dahilan.” Gerald stressed that the athlete was not in any way connected to his split from Julia, saying the rumors have circulated for some time despite having no truth to them.
“Matagal na raw itong Vanie Gandler isyu, pero ito’y wala raw katotohanan talaga. Ni hindi nga raw niya ito kilala nang personal o nakakausap o nakakatext o katawagan. Nanonood lamang daw siya ng laro ng volleyball pero hindi para tutukang panoorin si Vanie. Ini-link lang siya dito,” Ogie shared from his conversation with Gerald.
The actor further admitted that he was at fault for the separation but chose not to go into specifics. “Sinabi pa ni Gerald na iba ang dahilan, at inako rin niya na siya ang may kasalanan ng breakup nila ni Julia pero hindi na ito idinetalye pa ni Gerald.”
Gerald decided to speak out after Star Magic officially confirmed that he and Julia had parted ways, ending the so-called “Jurald” tandem. He emphasized that his main reason for calling was to protect Gandler from false accusations. “Tumawag lang daw siya sa amin para sabihing walang kinalaman ang naturang volleyball player,” Ogie explained.
The actor also admitted how much the backlash has taken a toll on him. “Pag-amin pa ni Gerald, durog na durog na siya sa mga naglalabasang bashing sa kanya. Kaya sana raw ay matigil na ang issue.”
Before ending, Gerald suggested it would also help if Gandler herself shared her side. “Maganda rin daw kung maibigay din ni Vanie ang kanyang side para linawin ang isyu.”
