Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos Reacts To Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte’s Accusation
SANDRO MARCOS – The Presidential Son and House Majority Leader fired back at Davao 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte over his accusation on the House leadership change.
Countless Filipinos were surprised by the resignation of Leyte Representative Martin Romualdez from being the speaker of the House of Representatives. On Wednesday, Romualdez, a cousin of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, stepped down amid the flood control corruption accusations hurled against him.

Romualdez’s name was dragged into the issue after controversial contractors Pacifico and Sarah Discaya claimed that the then-House Speaker was allegedly one of the government officials who get a kickback from the flood control deals awarded to them.
Then House Speaker Martin Romualdez denied the claim of the Discayas that he allegedly received kickback from flood control projects. According to him, he is “self-made” and does not need to corrupt money that are not his. He also expressed that he will never allow himself to be corrupted.

Romualdez claimed that anyone who uses his name for their benefits must be held accountable. Despite the accusation against the House Speaker, several members of the House expressed their support to House’s Chief and said “there’s no change of leadership”.

Following the resignation of Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez from being the House speaker, Davao 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte claimed that Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos was allegedly behind the pick for the new House speaker. The House leadership is now with Isabela Rep. Faustino “Bojie” Dy.

According to Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte, Isabela Rep. Bojie Dy and presidential son and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos are party-mates under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. The son of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte claimed that the recent change in the House leadership is allegedly “just another cover-up move”.
Recently, presidential son and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos who is also the House Majority Leader fired back at the claim of Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte. Based on a post on social media, during an interview, Marcos stressed that the pick for the new House Speaker was “consultative”.
“Naku Ma’am baka style niya ‘yun nung anak siya ng pangulo pero I can assure you that me, we are consultative with all the party leaders. Pwede mo silang tanungin, we met for plenty of weeks,” the House Majority Leader said.

Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos also took swipe at Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte. During the interview, Marcos said that if Duterte attended work and the House sessions, he might have known what was happening.
“Kung nagpakita sana si Cong. Pulong dito sa trabaho at sa session, baka makikita din niya. But I’m sure he’s busy looking for the P51 billion that was spent on his district,” he said.
Amid the issue, Senator Bato dela Rosa asked if Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez’s resigning from being the House Speaker is a “sign of guilt”.
