Cagayan Teacher Elicits Reactions Over Alleged Inappropriate TikTok Content

A Cagayan teacher went viral and received online criticisms over a TikTok content, which was seen as inappropriate.

Recently, CocaPola, pointed out the videos of a transwoman teacher from Tuguegarao City identified as Queency Apostol. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.

The content, which mixed classroom activities with suggestive humor, drew criticism from concerned netizens who felt it was not suitable for young students.

One of her videos showed her asking her students what they usually touch first upon waking up. While most answers were harmless, like cellphone, blanket, or pillow, the post gained attention when similar questions were raised on TikTok.

Apostol even interacted with these replies, which garnered negative reactions online. Several online users expressed discomfort, saying that such jokes should not be part of classroom content, especially when minors are involved.

Others also raised concerns about privacy, since the students’ faces were visible in some of the videos. Critics argued that the classroom should remain a safe space, free from topics that could be interpreted in an inappropriate manner.

Guidelines from the Department of Education clearly state that teachers should not record or share classroom videos for public use, particularly when they involve students. The policy also emphasizes protecting learners’ privacy and ensuring that school activities are not used for personal content creation.

Though some of the flagged videos have already been removed, reports say that similar content remains on her social media platforms.

“Teacher creators are taking it too far.

Medyo malaki yung issue ko dito sa content creator na ito so I want to know if it’s just me or may iba pa na ganito rin yung feeling.

Like this video for example. She knows exactly what she’s asking and she knows how the answers would go. Even some of her classroom contents are about jokes involving relationships, “love”, and wanting someone to be with etc. I am okay with a few jokes from time to time but there are some jokes that should be left outside of the classroom. She’s talking to minors. Ganito na ba talaga ngayon? Wala na bang off na topic sa classroom? And she’s also showing the faces of the minors na bawal na according to DepEd.

According to Division Memorandum No. 124, series 2024, teachers are not allowed to:

– Record or stream videos for personal or public sharing during class hours

– Engage in vlogging activities that may compromise the learning environment

– Include learners in video content without proper consent and consideration for their privacy and well-being

EDIT: I already reported her months ago. Nothing was done by DepEd.

SECOND EDIT: She deleted this specific video but a lot more are up on her channels showcasing the same. Thanks to the comments below, I reported her to the local regional office and even PRC.

THIRD EDIT: For those who want to help, please send an email to the Schools Division Office of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. Email address is  [email protected]
