Last week, a 60-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight at a repair shop in Barangay San Jose.

According to responding barangay officers, the victim had just come from a trip and stopped by the shop to have his vehicle’s tire fixed. They shared that he had earlier dropped off a student before heading to the vulcanizing shop where the attack happened.

The victim sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head, which caused his instant death. Residents in the area were shocked and saddened by the incident, especially since the man was known as an active officer in their community.

Authorities are now looking into possible motives behind the crime. Based on initial information from relatives, the victim had a past conflict with a security guard, though investigators have yet to confirm if it was connected to the shooting.

“May nakaalitan nga po na security guard, ayon sa kaanak, Patuloy po na iniimbestigahan ng PNP at patuloy din po na hinahanap ‘yung mga suspect na gumawa nung krimen na ‘yun,” Barangay San Jose Peace and Safety Officer Darwin Galoy said.

Police assured that the incident is being thoroughly investigated while efforts to track down the suspects are ongoing.

The victim’s remains are now at a funeral home in Binangonan, Rizal, where family and loved ones are in mourning. Out of respect for their grief, his relatives have chosen not to release any statements for now.
