Another Contractor Died in Shooting Incident in Bacolod City
Another contractor was killed in a shooting incident along Bonifacio Street, Barangay 12, Bacolod City in Negros Occidental.
Around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday (September 9, 2025), a 52-year-old contractor was shot dead in Bacolod City. The incident shook the residents and business owners in the area.
The victim was identified as Romy Li, owner of Emerald Republic Hardware and a resident of City Heights Subdivision, Barangay Taculing. According to his employees, Li had just stepped out of his vehicle when a man wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and a face mask suddenly approached him.

Witnesses reported hearing two gunshots before Li collapsed on the ground. The suspect immediately fled the scene, leaving people in the area in shock.
Police Captain Francis Depasucat, station commander of Bacolod Police Station 1, confirmed that the victim was shot at the back of the head. Investigators are now looking into the possibility that the attack may be business-related.
Authorities have requested CCTV footage from the area to help identify the suspect and the vehicle used in the escape. Police have also been gathering statements from witnesses and the victim’s employees to piece together what happened.

The brutal assault has raised concerns among locals, with many calling for justice for the victim and for stricter measures to ensure public safety.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to track down the gunman. Li’s death is a big loss not only to his family but also to the community where he was known as a hardworking businessman.
