Fake Army Intel Officer Arrested by CIDG During Operation in Palawan

FAKE ARMY INTEL OFFICER – A man who pretended to be an intelligence officer of the Philippine Army was arrested in Narra, Palawan.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a fake army intel officer in Barangay Poblacion, Narra, Palawan during their operation.

The suspect, identified only as alias “Van,” had been introducing himself in the community as a soldier. He even managed to arrange meetings and courtesy calls with the town mayor, further strengthening his false image of authority.

His scheme was exposed after a concerned citizen reported his suspicious activities to the CIDG. Acting on this information, local officers quickly launched an operation to verify his claims. When asked to present identification and documents for his firearm, the man failed to provide any proof that he was part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Authorities confiscated from him a .38 caliber revolver loaded with ammunition, an Army uniform, and an identification card. These items were being used to support his false identity as a member of the military.

The arrest showed the lengths some individuals go to in order to gain influence and respect in their communities, even at the risk of endangering public trust. Officials emphasized that impersonating members of the armed forces is a serious offense that undermines both security and credibility.

The suspect is now facing several charges, including Usurpation of Authority, Use of a False Name, Illegal Use of Uniforms and Insignia, as well as violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

He is currently detained while awaiting further legal proceedings. The CIDG reminded the public to remain vigilant and report similar suspicious behavior to prevent others from taking advantage of the trust given to real members of the country’s armed forces.
