Both the Senate and the House of Representatives opened an investigation on the flood control issue in the Philippines. Pres. Bongbong Marcos also ordered the creation of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure or the ICI that will probe the infra projects of the government.

The ICI is a three-member independent body that has broad powers. It has the power to issue a subpoena to compel individuals to attend the probe as well as the power to move for the freezing or the seizure of the assets linked to anomalies.

It is no secret to the people that several groups and individuals are currently preparing for a public protest against corruption. Even Pres. Bongbong Marcos is aware of the said protest.

In fact, Marcos Jr. even said that he might join the protest actions against corruption if he is not the president. According to him, even him is angry over what is happening in the country now.

”Do you blame them for going out to the street? If I wasn’t President, I might be out in the streets with them. So, you know, of course they are enraged, they are angry. I’m angry. We should all be angry because what’s happening is not right,” Marcos Jr. said.

Malacañang

Recently, Malacañang reaffirmed the stand of Pres. Bongbong Marcos on the upcoming public protest against corruption. Based on a post on News5, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro stressed that Marcos Jr. is not worried over the upcoming protest actions.

“Ang pagprotesta naman ay normal ‘yan. Hindi naman po nangangamba ang Pangulo dahil alam niya na ang pagprotesta ng taumbayan ay tungkol sa paglaban sa korupsyon,” Castro said.

The Malacañang press official also said that even the President himself said he might also join the protest if he is not the chief executive. Amid the flood control mess, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that even House Speaker Martin Romualdez and his allies will not be spared by the flood probe of the independent body.
