Angelu de Leon showed support for Mayor Vico Sotto
Actress-politician Angelu de Leon defended Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto against “coordinated attacks.”
Mayor Vico is one of the most popular political figures in the Philippines. This is not just because of his famous parents, showbiz veterans Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, but also because of this track record.
Even though his scope is just a city, his projects and programs for his constituents have been talked about by other people from different cities and provinces.
These recent days, Mayor Vico Sotto‘s name has been a trending topic because of his statements against wealthy couple Sarah and Curlee Discaya, who own multiple companies linked to the DPWH’s alleged anomalous flood control projects.
Behind the admiration that Mayor Vico received, there were other people who would still attack him online. In a recent social media post, based on the article in PEP, Angelu de Leon defended Pasig City Mayor.
The actress-politician was one of the councilors under Mayor Vico’s lineup in the 2-25 elections. Angelu clarified that Mayor Vico is focused on the issue concerning his city because this is his scope.
“Mayor po siya. Ang pinamumunuan niya ay sa LOKAL na pamahalaan. Hindi po personal ang laban niya, lumalaban po siya para sa Lungsod Pasig para MAIBALIK ANG MGA SINASABING NINAKAW SA AMING LUNGSOD,” the actress-politician said.
Angelu also pointed out that, as Mayor Vico said, he was just stating things based on his personal and common knowledge, and that he was just answering what was asked to him.
The actress said that this meant that the Mayor will not drop names without supporting evidence. “Kung hindi niya muna malilinis ang sariling bakuran, ano ang karapatan niya para makisawsaw sa bakuran ng hindi niya nasasakupan,” she stressed.
She also encouraged the public to be wise and pray for public servants who were involved in corruption to have a conscience. Then, the actress-politician said that it seemed that there were people who were hurt by what Mayor Vico Sotto said.
“Pero mukhang may tinamaan o mukhang guilty kasi pagtapos niya maging resource person bigalang dumami na ang coordinated attacks sa social media kay MVS. Bato bato sa langit ang tamaan sana UMAMIN,” the actress said.
