Vico Sotto was asked about the recent issue involving ghost projects
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto admitted that he felt fear about the controversy involving Sarah and Curlee Discaya.
The wealthy businesswoman challenged Mayor Vico in the 2025 midterm elections when she ran for mayor. That opened up some issues about Discaya and her businesses. When President Bongbong Marcos addressed the flood control project anomalies, Mayor Vico showed documents linking Dicaya’s company to the supposed ghost projects of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
With this, the Discaya couple was invited to the Senate hearing on the supposed anomalous flood control projects. Mayor Vico was also invited to the hearing.
In a recent interview on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, Mayor Vico Sotto feared that the inconsistency would affect the case. He highlighted that Sarah and Curlee Discaya had many inconsistencies in their statements.
“Du’n mo nga makikita talagang hindi mapagkakatiwalaan kasi paiba-iba ng kuwento. At du’n ako medyo natatakot ngayon, na baka kasama sa game plan na lituhin lang tayo,” the Mayor said.
He said that people might accept all the things the Discayas were saying, which might lead to the scenario that there would be no evidence that would be presented.
“Yun pala ang endgame, after a few months, walang ma-produce na mga ebidensya, wala na mangyayari sa mga kaso. ‘Yun ‘yung kinatatakutan ko ngayon,” the public servant said.
It saddened him that this kind of corruption is happening in the country, but somehow, he felt relieved that this is now being tackled. Mayor Vico said that it is a good thing that the national government agencies are pushing for justice.
He also cited that even DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon and people in the agency are working to bring accountability. However, Mayor Vico Sotto stressed that the public should be careful because trolls have been activated by other groups.
In the same interview, the Pasig City Mayor also admitted that at times, he felt like losing his drive, but he would just think that he should do what he has to do.
“Hindi ko kayang baguhin ang buong sistema, pero kung ano ‘yung kapangyarihan na mayroon ako sa LGU bilang mayor, gamitin ko para sa tama,” Mayor Vico said.
