Amid a gaffe, ABS-CBN star Vice Ganda did not allow her emotions to get the best of her, which the viewers have highly appreciated in her.
In live shows, mistakes, blunders, and gaffes are a normal part of the experience. Nobody is perfect, and things like these just really happen. What matters is how one reacts to these occurrences. In situations like these, the only thing we have control over is our emotions.
During the Saturday episode of It’s Showtime, in the “Laro, Laro Pick,” there were some tiny mistakes made on some small details, but what really caught the attention of people was how Vice Ganda, the main host, reacted to a wrong question asked during the jackpot question.
“I would like to apologize. Mali yung tanong.”
Clearly dismayed and embarrassed, the host handled the situation well without leaving anyone in an uncomfortable or awkward situation. Instead of being angry at the staff for the mistake at the most crucial part of the game, she remained composed and poised and owned up to the mistake.
On behalf of everyone in the show, right there and then during the live show, she apologized several times sincerely. She apologized to the contestant and to the live viewers. She was thankful that the contestant did not choose to answer the jackpot question, as it would have left them in a more complicated situation.
"Ang tamang tanong ay... Kasi binabasa ko lamang po, pero ang tamang... Ang tanong na nakalagay sa binasa ko ay: 'Ano ang alias...' Para na akong hihimatayin... 'o pen name ng bayaning si Gregorio del Pilar na mula sa binalasang mga letra ng kanyang apelyido?' Ang nais naming tanungin sana ay... kasi ang nakalagay na sagot dito ay Plaridel. Pero hindi natin masasabing tama ang Plaridel kung mali ang pangalang tinutukoy. Tama, hindi alias ni Gregorio del Pilar ang Plaridel. Tama? Dahil ang Plaridel ay alias ni Marcelo del Pilar. Humihingi po ako ng tawad sa inyong lahat. Mali."
This was the host’s statement with correction and clarification for transparency. She was quick to notice the wrong part of the question and was so calm and relaxed in handling the situation.
To make up for the mistakes that occurred during the segment, she awarded the contestant a prize of ₱100,000. She doubled the original offer as compensation for the error.
