In a post, First Lady Liza Marcos expressed rage over what she saw in the building.
First Lady Liza Marcos publicly denounced the substandard construction of the P200 million Philippine Film Heritage Building by the Discaya-owned company.
In a previous article, legal counsel of contractors, Sarah and Curlee Discaya, Atty. Cornelio Samaniego spoke about the unfinished works in the Philippine Film Heritage Building in Intramuros, Manila. There were reported irregularities and suspected substandard construction in the building, and some clarifications were made by the attorney.

“Sa Phase 1 pa lang po na-turn over ‘yung cinematic room. So ang nangyari po dun nung nakita ng pamunuan ng Philippine Film Heritage, ni-revise po ‘yung specs ng cinematic room pero kasama po yun sa kumpletong proyekto na tinurn over under phase 1,” Samaniego said about the unfinished works in the Philippine Film Heritage Building.
The project was given to Great Pacific Builders and General Contractor, Inc., one of the companies owned by the Discayas.
Previously, First Lady Liza Marcos visited the building for inspection, and she was outraged by what they had discovered after the inspection. In an Instagram post, the first lady condemned it and called the building “a rotten monument of incompetence.”
PHP 200 million was allocated for the project was intended to honor the country’s filmmakers, writers, and artists, and yet, all they saw were “leaking roofs, cracked walls, unfinished theaters, and water-stained ceilings” in a building that hasn’t been opened yet.
She further noted, “Our artists deserve respect—not this rotten monument of incompetence.”
Marcos showed press members the flawed construction of the building, which started in January this year and is supposed to be completed on September 4 of this year.
