2 Makati Robbers Caught by Police After Robbery Attempt
The police authorities arrested two suspected robbers in Makati City after a daring robbery attempt late at night.
Robbery is a crime where someone takes another person’s property by using force, threats, or intimidation.
Unlike simple theft, robbery involves directly confronting the victim, for example, snatching jewelry while threatening harm, or holding someone at gunpoint to take their belongings. It’s considered a serious crime because it endangers the victim’s safety, not just their property.

Recently, robbery suspects, known only by their aliases “Angelo,” 23, and “Melvin,” 25, were arrested by operatives of the Makati City Police after reportedly robbing a passerby. According to authorities, the incident happened around 11:00 p.m. along Metropolitan Avenue.
The two allegedly revealed the location of their other accomplices, who managed to escape during the chase.
Based on the victim’s account, he was waiting for a ride when he noticed two men circling the area and staring at him. Feeling uneasy, he moved to a well-lit spot, but the suspects followed him.
They seized the opportunity to grab his necklace and bracelet worth over P30,000 before attempting to flee.
Fortunately, motorcycle-riding police officers were nearby and quickly chased down the suspects. The stolen jewelry was recovered, and two firearms were seized from the pair.
Makati City Police Chief Colonel Reycon Garduque confirmed that both suspects had previous records for robbery. He said their team is continuing its investigation and backtracking efforts to locate the remaining members of the group who escaped during the operation.
The arrested suspects will face charges of robbery-holdup and violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Authorities reminded the public to remain vigilant, especially at night, and to immediately report suspicious behavior in their area. The quick action from citizens helps police respond faster and prevent further crimes.
