College Student in Batangas Arrested for Bomb Threat Joke at University Grounds
A 19-year-old college student was arrested after making a bomb threat joke at the University of Batangas.
Last Thursday (August 28, 2025), a student, who came from another school, entered the university grounds around morning and was questioned by a security guard about the purpose of his visit.
Instead of giving a clear answer, he allegedly responded by asking where he could place a bomb. His statement immediately alarmed the guard, who quickly followed security protocols.

The university’s security team and the Batangas City Police were called in to handle the situation. The suspect was stopped at the entrance and not allowed further inside.
The student later explained that he had actually come to the school to pay his sibling’s tuition fee at the Cash Management Office. Authorities inspected his belongings but found no suspicious items that could pose danger.
Even so, the incident was taken very seriously. The student was brought to the police station where formal charges were filed against him for violating Presidential Decree 1727. The law penalizes the spreading of false information about bombs or other threats, whether said as a joke or not.
