Airport Authorities Arrest American Man at Tuguegarao City Airport Over Bomb Joke

The airport police arrested an American man at Tuguegarao City Airport for joking that his luggage contains a bomb.

Tuguegarao Airport Police Station police chief Maj. Junvie Velasco arrested George Adrien Favarielle from New Jersey for joking that his luggage contains a bomb at the airport.

Favarielle allegedly joked that his bag contains a bomb while a crew of Cebu Pacific was inspecting his belongings. The American man clearly violated the country’s Presidential Decree 1727 or Anti-Bomb Joke Law.

“Despite explaining that the American was only joking, the airport police arrested him and took him to the Tuguegarao City police headquarters,” Velasco said.

Velasco said that the authorities could not tolerate such action and behavior in the airport. Violators will face corresponding sanction and penalties depending on the court’s decision. A violator will be also required to pay a fine not more than P40, 000 and may face jail time.

Favarielle was being accompanied by his wife named Rowena Pascua from the town of Gonzaga. The couple went to Gonzaga to attend the birthday of Pascua’s beloved mother.

The couple was supposed to return to America when the foreigner joked and got arrested because of his action. Favarielle has been charged with a fine worth P30, 000 before being allowed to leave police custody.

The American guy is not the only person who has been arrested for makng a bomb joke. Several individuals have been arrested and received sanctions for making the same mistake.
