Acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte Asked about Flood Control Project Issue in PH
BASTE DUTERTE – The acting Mayor of Davao City claimed that the Philippine flood control issue now is allegedly used as a “publicity stunt” and his city has its own flood control plans.
In the Philippines, the issue about the anomalous flood control projects have earned different reactions from many people. Several ‘ghost’ and substandard flood control projects were discovered in different areas across the nation. President Bongbong Marcos previously blamed the failure of the flood control projects that resulted to deep flooding in several areas in the country.

The Department of Interior and Local Government earned massive criticisms from the public amid the issue. Previously, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan hinted at ‘cleansing’ the government agency if there is a need. Despite the current issue, Malacañang stressed that Bonoan still has the trust and confidence of Marcos Jr.
According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, over P500 billion was spent by the Philippines for the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025. During a press conference, he also flagged 15 contractors which got 20% of the said government flood control deals.

According to the President, here are the 15 contractors that were awarded with 20% of the P545-billion worth flood control projects of the government from July 2022 to May 2025:

- Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp.
- Wawao Builders
- MG Samidan Construction
- L.R. Tiqui Builders, Inc.
- Road Edge Trading & Development Services
Reportedly, Bulacan turned out to be the province which have the most flood control projects. However, in the same province, Marcos Jr. was left disappointed with a flood control project that was not completed and made of substandard materials.

Furthermore, Pres. Bongbong Marcos was left angry by a P55-million ‘ghost’ Riverwall in Bulacan that was fully-paid but he arrived at nothing when he visited the area. Here are the 20 provinces with the most flood control projects:

Amid the issue, acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte was asked about it. The youngest son of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently in The Hague, Netherlands. All four (4) Duterte siblings recently visited their dad, Rodrigo, inside the ICC detention facility.

Based on a report on GMA News, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte claimed that the issue of the flood control projects in the Philippines is allegedly used as a “publicity stunt”. Recently, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the acting Davao City Mayor also claimed that Davao City allegedly has its own plans for flood control but the local resources are not enough.
“Ready ang Davao City for anything when it comes to implementation. However, ang problem, ang local budget will not be enough for these kinds of investments. Kailangan ang national talaga ang mag-invest ng ganoong kalalaking proyekto,” acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte said.
Amid the issue, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was also asked about the flood control issue in the Philippines and she aired her belief about what the Marcos admin should do.
