PAGASA Says Tropical Depression and Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather update reported that a tropical depression and the southwest monsoon will bring rain over parts of the country.  

On Friday (August 29, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical depression and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.  

PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz-Galicia reported that Tropical Depression (formerly Jacinto) was last spotted 650 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales, and packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers and gustiness of up to 70 kph, moving westward at the speed of 15 kph.

“From the outlook we see, this is moving away from our area of responsibility,” Galicia said.  

The tropical depression’s trough over cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.  

“Sa nakikita natin ay papalayo na ito ng Philippine Area of Responsibility at sa kasalukuyan ang trough niya ay magdudulot ng mga pag-ulan pero in terms of hangin ay wala po itong effect sa anumang bahagi ng bansa,” she added.

The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Dinagat Islands, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.  

The trough of the tropical depression will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Cagayan Valley.  

Habagat will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.  

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.  

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon, the rest of Luzon, and Visayas will be moderate. Mindanao will experience slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA
