Palace Issues Advisory Following “Lifestyle Check” Order of Marcos Jr. among Government Officials
MARCOS JR. – Malacañang announced that the President and all the officials under the executive branch are ready for a “lifestyle check”.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is currently surrounded by several issues after many “ghost” and “substandard” flood control projects funded by the government were exposed. Pres. Bongbong Marcos was left angry by the recent discoveries that cost the government billions.

According to Marcos Jr., the Philippines has spent over P500 billion already for the flood control projects since July 2022 to May 2025. Calling it an “enormous” amount, the Chief Executive also exposed the 15 contractors that were awarded with 20% of the total government flood control deals during the said duration:
- Legacy Construction Corporation
- Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp.
- St. Timothy Construction Corporation
- QM Builders
- EGB Construction Corporation
- Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
- Centerways Construction and Development Inc.
- Sunwest, Inc.
- Hi-Tone Construction & Development Corp.
- Triple 8 Construction & Supply, Inc.
- Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp.
- Wawao Builders
- MG Samidan Construction
- L.R. Tiqui Builders, Inc.
- Road Edge Trading & Development Services

Amid the issue, the Senate launched an investigation on the alleged anomalous flood control projects funded by the government. The probe is led by the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Previously, Senate Blue Ribbon chairman Rodante Marcoleta already warned the contractors to divulge the government officials who were receiving money from them. However, only a few contractors were represented at the first Senate flood probe. Thus, the chamber issued a subpoena mandating the attendance of the following contractors in the next Senate flood probe set on September 1.
- Mr. Luisito R. Tiqui, President of L.R. Tiqui Builders, Inc.
- Ms. Cezarah C. Discaya, President of Alpha and Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corporation
- Mr. Lawrence R. Lubiano, President of Centerways Construction and Development Inc.
- Mr. Edgar S. Acosta, President of Hi-Tone Construction & Development Corp.
- Ms. Marjorie O. Samidan, authorized managing officer of MG Samidan Construction
- Mr. Romeo C. Miranda, President of Royal Crown Monarch Construction & Supplies Corp.
- Ms. Ma. Roma Angeline D. Rimando. President of St. Timothy Construction Corporation
- Ms. Aderma Angelie D. Alcazar, President/CEO of Sunwest, Inc.
- Mr. Eumir S. Villanueva, President of Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
- Mr. Mark Allan V. Arevalo, General Manager of Wawao Builders
While the contractors are in the center of controversy right now, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also ordered a “lifestyle check” among the public officials to begin with the DPWH officials and those involved in the anomalous flood control deals. It earned different comments from the public officials.

Senator Imee Marcos agreed to the order of her brother for a “lifestyle check” among the government officials but stressed that those who will fail the assessment should face the consequence. Senate Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros also backed the order of Marcos Jr. but challenged him to show his SALN as a good example.
Recently, Malacañang announced that Marcos Jr. is ready for a “lifestyle check”. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro confirmed that all the officials under the executive branch are ready for the order and the President himself is willing to disclose his SALN if it is necessary.
“Lahat po ng miyembro ng ehekutibo ay ready, pati ang Pangulo. Kaya po ready ang lahat, kasama ang SALN… Pagka nagkaroon, mauna o mahuli man ang Pangulo, kasama po yan… Kung kinakailangan,” Castro said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also agreed with the “lifestyle check” order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos but she cited additional suggestions in doing it.
