Gotohan Employee Vents Frustration After Losing Phone to Thief in San Mateo, Rizal
A Gotohan employee lost a mobile phone to a thief who walked straight into their workplace in San Mateo, Rizal.
An employee of a gotohan in San Mateo, Rizal expressed her frustration after a thief managed to steal a cellphone right inside their workplace. The incident happened around 4 a.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025, and was caught on CCTV.
In the video, a man wearing a cap can be seen walking straight into the eatery. He looked around for a while, carefully observing the area. Once he saw the chance, he quickly grabbed the cellphone from a table and fled.

“Sobrang bilis lang po nangyari. ‘Yung cellphone na ‘yun hindi po sa kanya ‘yun, sa katrabaho po namin. Nilapag lang po roon tapos nakatulog po ‘yung cashier. Hindi niya po namalayan na nakuha na talaga,” cashier Angela Santos said.
Everything happened so fast that the staff on duty barely noticed what had taken place. The phone reportedly belonged to one of the employees. It was left on the table while the cashier dozed off for a moment, unaware that someone was already eyeing the device. By the time they realized, the thief was already gone.
According to the staff, the man’s identity is already known, thanks to the video recording. They are now coordinating with the barangay and local police to track him down and hold him accountable.
The barangay peace and safety office also assured that they are ready to respond and provide support to prevent similar incidents, especially during late-night hours when people are more vulnerable.
For the employees, the incident served as a wake-up call. They admitted that staying alert, especially during quiet hours of the night, is very important. They also reminded each other to be more careful with their belongings while at work.
Though the stolen phone caused distress, the staff are hopeful that with the help of authorities, justice will soon be served.
