The body of a 55-year-old woman was found inside her home in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, already in the early stages of decomposition. Authorities revealed that her own 15-year-old son allegedly caused her death following a heated argument.
Neighbors discovered the body on Wednesday (August 20, 2025), after noticing a foul odor coming from the woman’s house in Barangay Northern Poblacion. When police arrived, they found her lifeless body inside a room, with her face partially covered.
According to investigators, the teenager surrendered a day after the discovery. In his account, he said the conflict began on August 15, 2025, when he asked his mother for food but was refused. Angered, he punched her, causing her to fall and hit her head on the floor.
Instead of seeking help, he reportedly carried her to the bedroom, covered her face, cleaned the bloodstains on the floor, and left the house.
Police said they will file a parricide case against the minor, though the court will ultimately decide on the matter because of his age. For now, the boy is under the custody of the authorities and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
Officials expressed deep regret over the incident, describing it as a painful reminder of how family struggles can sometimes lead to tragic consequences. The child reportedly grew up in a broken home with separated parents, adding another layer of sadness to the case.
