Richard Gomez has this fiery post about a mayor
Leyte’s 4th District Representative Richard Gomez slammed an unnamed mayor who accused congressmen of corruption.
From being an actor, Richard transitioned into a public servant. He established his political career in the hometown of his wife, Ormoc City Mayor Lucy Torres.
For many years, the couple worked hand-in-hand in bringing their brand of public service to the people of Leyte. In the 2025 midterm elections, Richard had another chance to serve his constituents for three years.

In a recent Facebook post, the actor-turned politician had a fiery post about someone who he called “clean” mayor, who is making so much noise.
“It doesn’t surprise me anymore that this so-called ‘clean’ mayor is throwing accusations of corruption at us congressmen,” Richard Gomez said.
The Congressman said that the corruption issue is being ridden on by many personalities nowadays. However, he said that this is not just about corruption.
“If this is about his own congressman, who happens to bring in more projects for his district than he can for his city, don’t include all of us,” Richard stressed.

Then, he told the unnamed mayor to face that certain congressman if there is indeed a problem, and not drag other congressmen into the issue, which would discredit the works being done by those who really serve.
Richard pointed out that it is not good that the mayor would discredit every congressman just so the spotlight would be focused on the mayor. “You talk nonstop about corruption in Congress, why? Because it’s an easy headline?” the actor-turned-politician said.
Then, Richard Gomez enumerated the “problems” that the city has been facing and that these should be the mayor’s priorities. He mentioned that the city’s air quality is getting worse, not enough public transport, a broken waste disposal system, overcrowding, illegal structures, and poor urban planning.
“Maybe it’s time to fix your own house first before pointing fingers at others. Mahiya ka naman,” the congressman said.

It seems may tama ka! Truth hurts!
