Firefighters Earns Praise After Saving Toddler Who Accidentally Swallowed Toy
Firefighters were able to save a three-year-old girl in Alaminos, Laguna from a life-threatening situation after accidentally swallowing a small toy.
Firefighters are trained public safety workers whose main job is to put out fires and rescue people from dangerous situations. But their work goes beyond fighting flames. They also respond to emergencies such as accidents, natural disasters, and medical incidents.
Recently, fire officers Jan Vincent Alba and Lloyd Aaron Gimenez from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) were on their way home from duty at the regional headquarters in Calamba City.

They were riding in an ambulance assigned to the Lucena City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office when they noticed a commotion by the roadside along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Benito.
At first, they had already passed the area, but their instincts told them to turn back. When they returned, they found a little girl struggling to breathe after choking on a toy she had swallowed.
Without hesitation, the two firefighters rushed to help. They immediately provided first aid and carefully performed the proper steps to clear the child’s airway. After a few moments, the toy that had blocked her throat was removed, allowing her to breathe again.
