Authorities Arrest Woman for Using Company Funds to Bet on Online Gambling
A 30-year-old woman was arrested in Bacolod City for using company funds to bet on online gambling.
The female suspect was arrested in Bacolod City after authorities served a warrant for her arrest in connection with multiple counts of qualified theft. The arrest took place at Bangga Totong 4, Barangay Felisa, and the suspect was later detained at the female custodial facility of Police Station 10.
The woman was identified as Ericca Mae Rasay, a resident of CT Village, Barangay Cabug. According to Police Captain Glen Montaño, chief of Police Station 10, police records revealed through the “e-warrant” system that Rasay had 31 counts of Qualified Theft filed against her.
Investigations showed that Rasay allegedly used company funds to place bets on online gambling. Authorities said she diverted money entrusted to her by the company for personal use, placing wagers in the hopes of winning more, but instead causing massive financial losses.
The total amount reportedly taken from the company reached around P900,000. The misuse of the company’s money not only hurt the business financially but also broke the trust placed in her as an employee.
Cases of employees misusing company funds for gambling have been a growing concern, especially with the rise of online betting platforms that are easy to access. Such incidents serve as a warning about the dangers of addiction and the severe consequences of mismanaging resources.
Rasay now faces legal proceedings for her actions. Authorities remind the public that gambling, particularly illegal online activities, can lead to financial ruin, damaged relationships, and criminal charges.
As of this writing, the suspect remains in custody as her case progresses, and the company affected is left to recover from the huge loss caused by her actions.
