DOTr Flags Jeepney Driver w/ Live Chicken on Hood
A jeepney driver with a live chicken perched on the hood of his vehicle was stopped by DOTr, he is set to face other violations.
Recently, the Department of Transportation – Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTR-SAICT) flagged a jeepney driver after committing several traffic violations.
A jeepney driver driving with a live chicken perched on the hood of his vehicle caught attention. However, DOTr officials clarified that the driver was not stopped because of the chicken. Instead, the real violations were a worn-out spare tire and a broken tail light.

Still, they pointed out that the chicken could potentially block the driver’s view and pose a safety risk while on the road.
When questioned, the driver explained that the chicken, named “Turagsoy,” had been his companion for years. He said it was given to him by his mother and has since become a source of comfort, luck, and even guidance during his trips.
For the driver, Turagsoy is more than just a pet, it is a reminder of his mother and a symbol of good fortune. He also proudly shared that his beloved chicken even has a Facebook account, much to the amusement of those present.

According to the driver, Turagsoy has been with him for about a decade and often rides along during his daily routes. He insisted that the chicken stays still on the hood and doesn’t cause trouble while they’re on the road.
Despite the heartwarming story, traffic enforcers informed him that he would still receive a ticket for his actual violations. The driver agreed to settle the matter and continue his trip afterward.
The authorities reminded motorists to ensure their vehicles meet safety standards, even if their travel companions happen to be a long-time feathered friend.
