Vico Sotto received praise from the Palace
The Malacañang Palace stated that local government units should imitate the leadership that Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is showing.
Mayor Vico’s popularity is not confined to Pasig only, and it is because of the good governance he is doing for his constituents. In 2019, he decided to go against a strong opponent in the mayoralty race.
Pasigueños chose him, and they experienced the leadership that they deserved from a good public servant.
In a recent report from the Inquirer, the Palace encouraged the LGUs all over the country to follow the lead of Mayor Vico Sotto.
The Pasig City Mayor reported to President Bongbong Marcos the graft-ridden flood control projects in their city. Palace press officer Claire Castro said in a briefing that the Chief Executive of the country praised Mayor Vico for his efforts to expose government projects that were done with corruption.
On August 11, PBBM revealed in a press briefing that P100 billion of the entire P545-billion budget for flood mitigation projects under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) was awarded to only 15 out of 2,409 accredited contractors. This was from July 2022 to May 2025.
The President said that this information was disturbing, but he did not accuse the mentioned private contractors in his presentation.
After that, Mayor Vico Sotto shared in his Facebook post that of the contractors that PBBM mentioned were Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp. and St. Timothy Construction Corp, both owned by the family of his opponent in the 2025 mayoralty race, Cezarah Rowena “Sarah” Discaya.
In Mayor Vico’s report, he also listed seven contractor firms owned by the Discaya family, which are:

St. Matthew General Contractor & Development
Great Pacific Builders and General Contractor
YPR General Contractor and Construction Supply
