PAGASA Says Typhoon Gorio to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that Typhoon Gorio will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Wednesday (August 13, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Typhoon Gorio will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin De La Cruz-Galicia reported that southwest monsoon is expected to bring rain showers to many parts of the country.

Gorio was last spotted 165 kilometers northeast of Itbayat packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kph, moving west northwestward at 25 kph.

While no storm surge warning is hoisted, there may be an increased potential for coastal flooding due to high waves near the coast, especially if the track forecast shifts further south,” PAGASA said.

The typhoon may make landfall over the eastern coast of southern Taiwan and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility today.

The weather disturbance will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan.

The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate.

“So it is possible that 5 minutes to 1 hour of heavy rain will occur at any time of the day due to isolated thunderstorms,” De La Cruz-Galicia said.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, according to PAGASA.

Small vessels in extreme Northern Luzon are advised not to venture out due to the dangerous sea conditions.
