PAGASA Says Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Saturday (August 9, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that a low-pressure area was spotted 2,220 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon. The tropical storm packs maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 105 kph.

“At present, the storm still has no effect on any part of the country. It will continue to strengthen. Before it enters the PAR, it may intensify into a typhoon,” Castañeda said.
Podul is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday night (August 9) or Monday morning (August 10).
“However, our uncertainty is still high, so it’s possible that this scenario could change,” she added.

The southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, the Bicol Region, and Quezon.
Habagat will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Tropical Depression Fabian, the sixth tropical cyclone to enter the PAR this year, exited the country’s weather conditions at 1 a.m. on Saturday. It is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition across the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
