27-Year-Old Woman in New Zealand Caught Traveling w/ Child Inside Suitcase
A disturbing incident in New Zealand shocked the public after a woman was caught traveling with a two-year-old child hidden inside a suitcase.
On Sunday (August 3, 2025), a 27-year-old woman was riding a bus when authorities arrested her after the shocking discovery. The incident happened at a bus stop in Kaiwaka, where the driver noticed unusual movement coming from one of the bags stored in the luggage compartment.
Curious and concerned, the driver checked the suitcase and found a young girl inside. Thankfully, the child appeared physically unharmed, though she was reportedly very hot and in need of medical attention.

“When the driver opened the suitcase, they discovered the two-year-old girl. The little girl was reported to be very hot, but otherwise appeared physically unharmed,” Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said.
The girl was quickly brought to the hospital to ensure her health and safety. Police charged the woman with child abuse and neglect. As of now, it remains unclear what her relationship is to the child, and authorities say more charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
According to reports, the suitcase was placed underneath the bus, along with other passengers’ bags. If the driver hadn’t noticed the movement, the situation might have ended in a tragic incident. Authorities praised the driver for acting quickly to save the child’s life.
The case has now been turned over to New Zealand’s Ministry for Children for further review and support for the little girl.
The incident has raised concerns among many, especially about the safety and well-being of children. People are now calling for stronger measures to protect vulnerable children and ensure such acts do not happen again.
As of this writing, the child is safe and under proper care, while the investigation continues to uncover more details behind the irresponsible act.
