Shuvee Etrata Emotional As She Recalls Heartbreaking Memories Of Childhood

Marked with violence and poverty, Shuvee Etrata recalls her childhood while in tears.

Kapuso host Shuvee Etrata shared the story of her childhood, her sentiments to her parents, and their difficult upbringing.

Former Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition housemate Shuvee Etrata had a hard childhood, and in an interview, she candidly talked about it. During her conversation with Vice Ganda in the latter’s vlog, she recalled how hard it was growing up in a poor family as the eldest of nine siblings.

They came from a struggling household, with a mother who was constantly pregnant and a father who was abusive toward her. She described their family as “dysfunctional,” and revealed that their father had no stable job.

She and her siblings have always dreaded escaping their house and their situation. This is why it has become her life mission to provide for her siblings, give them a home where they have their own rooms, and take them out of their difficult situation.

Growing up, the lack of family planning from her parents has become the root of her “hatred.” She recalled, “My dad, wala po siyang work, and then ‘yung mom ko naman buntis lang nang buntis before,” she relayed. “‘Yun po ‘yung parang naging ano ko kay mommy ko, parang hatred ko, kasi nung [tumanda ako, napatanong ako], ‘Bakit ba ginawa kaming siyam kung hindi pala nila kaya?’ Lima pa lang kami nun, hirap na kami eh.”

Her father was also physically abusive, not just towards their mother, but also to her. She shared, “Sinasaktan niya mom ko, and ako rin po nasasaktan. Pag nalalasing kasi siya, nag-iiba si Dad.”

Because of her childhood, she has a fear of having children of her own. She also finds it hard to trust other people because of the trauma that her past brought her. What has happened caused a deep wound in her based on the video.

During her stay inside the Pinog Big Brother, this wound has healed. Through the program, she was able to heal and forgive her parents. Despite everything, she still loves her parents.

Right now, her biggest motivation to work harder is her siblings. She has chosen to provide for them and is committed to giving them the dream home and the life they truly deserve.
