Details of Phivolcs Tsunami Warning Today, July 30
Tsunami warning was raised by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in several areas in the Philippines today.
The Philippines is one of the countries across the globe that are prone to natural calamities most especially typhoons and earthquakes. Daily, there are several earthquake occurrences recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or more popularly called PHIVOLCS in the different areas across the nation.

Aside from issuing details about the earthquake incidents in the different areas across the nation, PHIVOLCS also issues warnings when tsunami waves are expected to be present in certain areas. It also releases records of these natural incident.
Recently, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology issued a tsunami warning. Based on a post on Inquirer, waves with height of less than one (1) meter are expected in several areas across the nation today.

According to the state seismologists, the tsunami waves are expected to appear between 1:20 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. today, July 30. Here are the areas where these waves may be present:
- Batanes Group of Islands
- Cagayan
- Isabela
- Aurora
- Quezon
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Catanduanes
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Dinagat Islands
- Surigao del Norte
- Surigao del Sur
- Davao del Norte
- Davao Oriental
- Davao Occidental
- Davao del Sur
- Davao de Oro
Based on the post, PHIVOLCS advises the concerned public to stay alert for unusual waves. The state seismologists also advised the people to stay away from coastal areas of the above-mentioned provinces until the cancellation of the tsunami warning.
“People whose houses are located very near the shoreline of these provinces are advised to move farther inland,” PHIVOLCS said.
The advisory of the state seismologists came after a magnitude 8 earthquake hit the far east coast of Russia. More updates may be posted soon...
